Dr. V. Ratnam Attili. MBBS, MD (Dermatology)

Consultant Dermatologist

Dr. Venkat Ratnam Attili is a Senior Consulting Dermatologist who has nearly 40 years of clinical experience practising as a dermatologist. His main interests include acne and pigmentary disorders (vitiligo and melasma). He spent the formative years of his career in Zambia and Zimbabwe; and, was instrumental in establishing the Dermatology Department at the Lusaka University Hospital. A lot of his time in Africa was dedicated to studying Syphilis which was endemic during that time. Visakha Institute of Skin & Allergy was established in 1984 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It has since then developed into a world class centre of excellence for diagnosis and treatment of various skin problems. The Centre’s parent clinic is based at Marripalem. A second branch has been operative since 2001. It is centrally located at Maharanipeta, on the approach road to the beach front.
His main research interest at the moment is Vitiligo and Lichen sclerosus. He has spoken on these topics at a number of International meetings and conferences as an invited/guest speaker. He has also served as a Referee for a number of International Dermatology journals.
He has a penchant for patient education and is often quoted by newspapers and websites. Dr. Attili conceived this idea of providing private dermatology services and dermatology advice online, as he wanted to make specialist advice accessibe to all. With the advent of camera phones, people from all over the world are now a days able to send high quality images, in a few clicks. You do not need anything fancy. Your simple camera phone would do, in most cases.
