The simplest and best solution for healthy skin is application of a non-perfumed simple moisturiser (should not be very oily, if using on the face) along with a Sunscreen (of an SpF of at least 30).
Most over the counter expensive/ branded cosmetics do not produce any physiological effects on the skin and that is the reason they are sold as ‘cosmetics’ and not ‘drugs’. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which regulates cosmetics in the United States defines cosmetics as: “intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance without affecting the body’s structure or functions.” Therefore, by definition, a cosmetic does not alter the structure or function of the skin.
