Question:

Dear Doctor,

Can you please help me identify what type of eczema this is

http://img18.imageshack.us/f/noseod.jpg/

I am 27 and had suffer from atopic eczema until 15, only now a couple years maybe I have been getting eczema on my nose as you can see in the image.

It is a build up of dead skin making me really dark toned in that region, alot of creases, and fine “lines” of cuts as those i cut myself with a knife.

The area stays well hydrated and moisturised and never itches, just likes to cut open. You see it clean because I have to daily exfoliate the region with warm water and finger scrubbing gently, and dead skin sheds off, by evening new skin is brown and already shredding.

Please help.

thanks.

Answer

Dear Sam999,

Thanks for your email. The photos you have uploaded are consistent with seborrhoeic dermatitis. A variety of treatment options are available but I would suggest trying daktacort cream or ketoconazole cream in the first instance.

Best wishes

    Hi,

Thanks for your help… I have actually bought this a few days ago…

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001PMM19A/ref=ox_ya_os_product

Canesten Cream Clotrimazole 1%w/w 20g for fungal infections

I feel the inflammation has gone, but obviously the creases are there and the region is much darker and the line of cut almost not wanting to dissappear completely and looking for an opportunity to break open (cut open where I see sign of blood).

    Thanks
