Almost all patients experience no complications associated with these types of treatments performed by a trained dermatologist. However there is a theoretical risk of increase in pigmentation of your skin if treatment is done too vigorously and/or you do not follow the after-care instructions given by the doctor.
Here’s a list of the conditions that make someone unsuited for Microdermabrasion. However these are not absolute contraindications. So please discuss with your dermatologist.
- Active rosacea
- Active severe acne
- Fragile capillaries
- Vascular lesions
- Herpetic lesions (herpes)
- Warts
- Open sores
- Anyone who takes anti-coagulants
- Eczema/ Dermatitis
- Psoriasis
- Lupus Erythematosus
